One Ability - The Holy Ghost

We began the Five Directives for Christian Living with One Overarching Thought - Jesus Christ. This means a life fully immersed in the person and presence of Jesus Christ, understanding who He is with a singular, unshakable focus that serves as the ultimate guide to direct every part of my life and all of my choices. Following this foundation, we explored the second directive, One Deep Desire - To Glorify Him. Our hearts and minds are completely centered on Him, and we commit to glorify and exalt His name in everything we say, think, and do. Moving forward, we identified Our One Clear Purpose - To Win the Lost. It would be impossible to remain truly focused and wholeheartedly dedicated to Christ without carrying a passionate desire to share Him with others. He has called each of us to the ministry of reconciliation — the sacred mission of bringing the world back to Christ by sharing His love, grace, and healing power.

This next directive is the power to fulfill a Christian life and have a lasting impact on others. One Ability - The Holy Ghost.

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

— Jn 20:19-23 (NIV)

On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

— Acts 1:4-5 (NIV)

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

— Acts 2:1-4 (NIV)

I have attached Phil Conley’s messages on One Ability - The Holy Ghost. This series will conclude on the next post with the final Directive, One Motive - The Love of God.
