One Desire - To Glorify Him

In the last Stronger! Thoughts we introduced One Thought - Jesus Christ from the Five Directives for Christian Living. This post moves to the second directive; we continue the comparison to a student’s section and how fans respond and react.

And The Fans go Wild!

Fans and a student section have their focus on the team and are completely invested in the brand. When their team plays, they are there in attendance. They talk about the game the next day. They wear the team apparel and are the team’s biggest supporters. They know the chants, the cheers, and the songs. And, they are not shy about yelling them out at the top of their lungs. They have more than one discussion defending their team.

One Desire - To Glorify Him is a Christian’s opportunity to express the outflow of having One Though consumed with Jesus Christ and the natural expression of that is through glorifying Him; in conversations, in songs, in branding, and in out-right pandemonium at times. It is the outward manifestation of the inward transformtion. We cannot be obsessed with a living and true God and not have a river rushing to flow out back toward him.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

— Col 3:16-17 (NIV)
